Pediatric Speech Therapy

You won’t find ordinary, table-top, flashcard speech therapy here.

Rachel has cultivated a therapeutic approach rich with play, movement, sensory regulation and language.

Research shows that children learn best in play and when they are interested in the task. Knowing this, all speech therapy sessions at Rooted Therapies are child-led, utilizing therapeutic play-based strategies making therapy fun and functional.

Speech therapy will look different for every child. However, you can expect to see:

  1. Rachel on the ground with your child the entire session.

  2. Your child leading the way around the office and sensory gym to engage in whatever they like.

  3. Your child’s sensory needs being met (swings, crash pad, jumping, calming jars, dim lights, etc.).

  4. The entire session is PLAY (and work in disguise)!!

  5. No power struggle between your child and Rachel during sessions.

  6. Parents encouraged to join and participate in sessions.

  7. Techniques to empower your child with neurodiversity affirming practices.

  8. Your child making progress you haven’t seen before!

FAQ

  • What if I’m concerned my child has a speech delay but their pediatrician isn’t?

    • We can schedule a free speech screening to identify if there is a delay.

    • In Texas, speech therapists don’t need a doctor referral. So, if you’d like a full diagnostic evaluation, call or email to schedule one.

  • Will my child need another evaluation if they just received one at another therapy center?

    • No, your child should only receive one formal diagnostic evaluation per year.

    • Rachel will complete a diagnostic session to determine where she thinks your child is performing and create her own plan of care.

    • If your child has a recent evaluation, send it to Rachel at hello@rootedtherapies.com
