Gestalt Language Processors
What is a GLP?
A gestalt language processor is a child who acquires language in a more top down, big picture method.
More than 85% of autistic children develop language in this way.
It’s characterized by using chunks of language learned from songs, books, movies, and other people to communicate.
The copied chunks of language are known as “gestalts”, “scripts”, or “echolalia”.
We have a special place in our hearts for little gestalt language processors!
Besides specializing in GLP speech-language therapy and parent coaching, we also want to be a resource where families go to learn how to encourage, affirm, and help their own little gestalt language processors.
