Gestalt Language Processors

What is a GLP?

A gestalt language processor is a child who acquires language in a more top down, big picture method.

  • More than 85% of autistic children develop language in this way.

  • It’s characterized by using chunks of language learned from songs, books, movies, and other people to communicate.

  • The copied chunks of language are known as “gestalts”, “scripts”, or “echolalia”.

We have a special place in our hearts for little gestalt language processors!

Besides specializing in GLP speech-language therapy and parent coaching, we also want to be a resource where families go to learn how to encourage, affirm, and help their own little gestalt language processors.
